Theft (simple theft, pickpocketing or theft by trick)
A bag set down for two minutes, a wallet in an open pocket, a distraction on public transport or trust abused by misleading words: theft without violence takes many faces. What unites them is the absence of direct physical constraint and, often, the late realisation.
In Appenzell, Gonten, Oberegg or Schwende, this type of offence leaves a sense of powerlessness. Reporting it creates an official record. See our page Theft (simple theft, pickpocketing, theft by trick).
